WHAT IS THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB?

The ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB is my very own channel on the educational platform TrueFire. There you will find a collection of video lessons, tabs, and other materials, which will cover basically everything I know about guitar playing and music in general. My goal is to improve your playing and open new doors within your musical journey – no matter if you are already an experienced guitarist or if you are just starting out.

WHO IS THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB FOR?

In the ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB I want to bring together guitar lovers from every corner of the world playing different styles of music. If you are playing fingerstyle, classical music, or if you are accompanying yourself – I will help you reach your personal goals on the acoustic guitar on this channel.

The ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB includes video lessons for beginners as well as for advanced players and covers a broad spectrum of guitar-related topics. To make sure you learn, what you want to learn, I cannot wait to read about your requests and exchange thoughts and ideas in the forum of the channel. I am ready to share everything with you that you want to know to improve your playing and will upload new videos to the channel every month.

HOW DO I BECOME A SUBSCRIBER IN THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB?

This is very simple: You go to the ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB on TrueFire and choose one of the two subscription options on the right. To gain access to all videos, TABs and scores, simply choose subscription level 1.

If you would like to receive a monthly private lesson in addition to the videos, TABs and scores, select “Subscription Level 2”. This private lesson takes place via TrueFire’s built-in messenger and is not LIVE. Here you send me a video with your questions and I will send you a video reply within 3 days.

WHAT DO I FIND IN THE ACOUSTIC GUITAR LAB?

On the channel you will find 5 different sections:

“Sönke’s Compositions” covers performance videos and detailed walkthroughs to a collection of my own compositions. I will share every little detail of what I do and also provide the scores and tablature for those pieces.

The second folder, the „Creative Corner“, is all about my approach to composition and arranging. I will share tips regularly for every stage of the creative process and try to demystify the whole way from the first spark of inspiration to a finished musical piece. Also, I will tell you how I wrote some of my pieces, share some of my sources of inspiration (from personal experiences to favourite albums) and talk to some of my favourite musicians I have worked with over the past years.

The third folder is simply called “How Music Works”. With these videos, I want to expand your musical vocabulary and use a little music theory to show you why things sound the way they do, and how that knowledge can create new possibilities for your own music. Don’t worry, we start from scratch on the theory, so you don’t need any previous knowledge here!

​

In the „Guitar Gym“ I share a collection of technical exercises with you to make your playing more efficient and precise and expand your palette of sound colours. I explain different techniques as detailed as I can – from the basic left and right hand movements to more advanced or unusual ones like slaps, harmonics and percussive techniques. 

​

The fifth folder is called „Behind the Scenes“. This is not only a fun place for stories and impressions from past concerts and everyday life as a musician – but also the place for you to get exclusive previews and snippets from upcoming releases before everyone else.
